Mathematical Jugglery

2:55pm

There was a loud bang on my door. Breaking away my beloved afternoon nap , i realised it was time for OPRE lecture . Within minutes , i got refreshed and started running towards the lecture theatre (LT) along with Srihari . The instructor of the course was a man of sincerity and hardwork, Dr.P.M.P. Moopanar (hereafter will be known as Dr.P.M ).When we reached the LT , Dr. P.M was already on the dias ,adjusting the overhead projector which will be engaging us for the next 45 minutes . We sat in the third to front row ( the second and first being empty ) , to avoid special attention from Dr.P.M,whose usual targets are back bench boys . Well not precisely back bench guys but he selects his victims randomly . Two things qualifies a person to become his victim , one being staring at his face and the other being staring at the screen for long time pretending to think on some mathematical concept deeply . The immediate response will be " Yes ***** , can u explain this concept .....tell me what do i mean by random variable ". Varied victims have their own varied answers . Once he gets convinced by your answer , he will move on to the next concept . Queuing theory was the topic of the day . I was just blinking over all the alphabets ( which in Dr. P.M terms are parameters of queuing system ) displayed on the screen . He started off with the assumption of three axioms , slowed moved over to calculation of some probabilty , then proved some resuts, which he calls " elementary " . First we were asked to" assume " certain things , then calculate some crapy probability using "predefined" formulae and finally what we "prove "are corallaries with the help of our assumptions . His face was shinning like a bright star with pride as he proved the corallary using his assumptions and calculations . The unfortunate thing was no one in the LT was able to understand what happened and why it happened . Everyone was busy filling up their notes with what they gazed at in the projector screen . " MATHS " has always been an enigma to me . I never understand what i do and why i do but still i continue doing my assumptions , calculations and proofs. Something struck me suddenly when i was giving this thought ,"MATHEMATICAL JUGGLERY ", the words of Dr. V.K.D. Well Dr.V.K.D is one another interesting personality on whom i shall speak later .

Long Live the "MATHAMATECIANS " !!!

First Blog

First part of every work should have a dedication the "To my beloved.... and For my deceased.... " kinda stuff .Well i would like to dedicate this blog to "Dhuja", the one whom i admire most (Pray this blog comes out decently )

Hi ppl

This is raghu, doing my third year of "so called " engineering in BITS goa campus . I am really late for blogging . Thought could try my hand in blogging after reading so many of my friend's blogs . Well i look really nasty when i am asked to tell about myself .Hope you will get to know me through my blogs. i guess thats decent enough for the first blog .
cheers
