Bike Trip: Day 1 – Part 2

So the mechanic announced that the bike chain is cut and we need to replace it with a new one. I got damn irritated and started cursing the bike lender for giving such a stupid bike which left us stranded in a deserted place. I called the bike guy again and explained the problem .He spoke with the mechanic in my mobile. They exchanged some stuff in Konkani and finally all was fine. The mechanic agreed to do some temporary arrangement which will make the bike run. We happily agreed for the deal of 80Rs ,while I had the worst vision of having the bike breaking down again .The mechanic started working on the bike ,while we started our photo session there.

the HOT chick and the KIND friend

And for this snap of my stupid friend, we halted the journey and all the above misfortune happened.

Apart from taking snaps we kept ourselves engaged with our mokkai comments on the passers by and kept listening to the Konkani conversations. An Israeli friend was kind enough to spoil his bike and give darshan along with his HOTTT girlfriend in the garage. Time kept moving on as we did all these stuff, and wondering if we could make it to the fort before 5. Finally the mechanic finished off the work; we paid him, thanked him and started towards the fort, now with hari riding the bike, as they lost their belief in me. We stopped at couple of places to buy water bottles and for the “HOLI” check posts which happened to come every 3 kilometers. It was exactly a week after HOLI and still our goan friends were so enthued to play HOLI. Men dipped in weird colours stopped passerby, applied colours and asked (better I use begged or bugged) for money .We gave money at some HOLI check posts and soon were running out of coins .We moved further norther . We were supposed to cross a river and drive to reach the fort .when we reached the bank of the river, the barge just started. So paved way for one more photo session as the barge would not return within 30 minutes .We lost all our hope of making it to the fort by the closing time and decided to enjoy the evening in the river bank.

VETTI SCENE ( thu thu )

the TRIUMVIRATE ( v rule :) )

guess whose ???.....

After some 20 minutes, we could see the barge returning back. I and hari started our bikes to get inside the barge, while Rakesh started shooting the hot foreign chick that was entering inside the barge along with us and her extra large boyfriend.

BIKE TRIP

Ok test 2 is fast approachin and I am tired of studying ( i hardly do that ) . So let me finish off with this post.

Euro Trip , Road Trip , Boat Trip .........so we thought why not a BIKE TRIP.....yea this post is a narration on the memorable bike trip we made to calancute and to maharastra border ahead .

DAY 1 : FRIDAY

Friday (09/03/07)10:00 am

Destination 1 : SBI ATM , Vasco da gama

We were standing outside the SBI ATM in Vasco to fuel ourself for the journey ahead . In 10 minutes , we were in ANNAPOORNA ( much to my dismay ) having breakfast . I was never comfortable with the place, yet the "PURE VEG " tag made my friends walk to it .While Rakesh was busy recharging his mobile , i dropped in the GTDC building to buy a Goa Road Map .By 10:30 pm we were inside the panjim shuttle service .

Friday 11:30 am

Destination 2 : Panjim

We were then standing in the panjim bus stop , waiting for the two hero honda splendors that we hired. Edwin , the bike guy along with another guy came there in 10 minutes with two splendors . We checked the documents , gave my ID card , got all the "instructions " and started

Yoyoyo..... ..we are riding the bike now . Myself and Sai on one , Rakesh and Hari on the other . Hardly we knew then what was waiting for us ahead . We fueld the bikes in the nearest petrol bunk and started towards Calancute. I wore helmet for the first time .It was very small and suffocationg . Shortly I discovered, the bike's horn was not working .So we let the other bike go infront of us and make us way.Since we were already late , we hardly stopped anywhere for a snap . We badly wanted to be in calancute asap to book for our stay that night

Friday 1:00 pm

Destination 3 : Calancute

Yeah we are now in calancute . Luckily we booked a room in Calancute Residency (CR).CR is owened by GTDC . Though the room wasn't great , it was very close to the beach in a picturesque environment . For all of those planning to visit goa , i suggest you Calancute can be the best and happening place to stay in as compared to any other beach of goa .We rested for a while after the long trip.We had lunch in ASIA restaurant . It was costly but worth of what we spent there .

After making time calculations we started to Terekol Fort by 3:00pm.We should be in Terekol befor 6:00 pm as they close the fort by six .

Friday 3:00 pm

Destination : Terekol

After the good lunch , when i badly wanted a nap,we started drinving towards Terekol . Terekol is in Maharashtra border . So literally what we were doing was covering the entire stretch of North Goa by bike .Starting from calancute first came Arpora.

We crossed the inroads to Baga , Anjuna and were reaching Vagator when Hari stopped for snaps . We stopped our bike and took couple of snaps . When i tried to start bike and there was a sharp noise "TING!!! ". All I saw was grease in the rear wheel. GAWD .......bike breakdown in a deserted road .... I thought all our plans spoilt pucca. The only comfort was there was a small restaurant right in the brkdwn spot. We enquired about garages nearby with our awkward hindi , which the hotel guy could hardly comprehend . The guy was visiblly intelligent enough to understand our situation and suggested a garage which was 2kms from the spot . Rakesh and Sai started in the other bike in search of the garage while hari and me were standing near the hotel pondering on what to do if we dont find a garage . We had the worst experience ever . We were already late and the brkdwn is gonna cause further delay. I called rakesh atleast 10 times on mobile whether he spoted the garage.Meanwhile we were enquiring about other garages in the locality and the journey ahead . We got consoled hearing Terekol is an hours drive from the spot . A new guy who came to the hotel suggested a garage which was in a kilometre in the opposite direction . Since we didnt get any positive response from the two guys , i decided to try the new option . The new guy helped me get a lift with neither the driver nor me knowing what the destination was . When the driver enquired about the spot ,all I could say was "aaghe ....thoda dhoor mein " .Within 2 Kms I spotted the garage .Thanking the lift guy, I went to the garage and somehow managed to convey the mechanic what the problem was .We started in the mechanic's scooter to the spot while i called rakesh to return back .The mechanic checked the bike and announced "bike chain kaat gaya ".

........to be continued

EIIT Lab

hai hai

I am now in the Electronics Instruments and Instrumentation Technology (EIIT) Lab . I found this comp which was offered for interfacing the microprocessor to the measuring instruments with a LAN connection . Unfortunately the LAN was disconnected . With a good deal of toiling , i sumhw managed to get a patch chord and got myself connected . yoyoyo!!!! i m browsing the net now . Since blogspot was blocked in the hostel , my joy knew no bounds when blogspot worked in the LAB . The lab is deserted with no faculties inside and a lonely "smart" lab assistant who is just a couple of years ( i doubt that ) elder than me desperately watching us browsing . Some of the dejected boys who didnt get the output were busy browsing orkut while a couple of my frds visited the Insti Cafe ( IC ) to break the morning fast . Today we are supposed to learn the role of microprocessor (VIK 8080) in the control of measuring devices ( ADC , LVDT and steppermotor ) .The concept was quite interesting - you control the working( reduce or increase speed , switch ON and OFF ) of various intruments using your keyboard . The last experiment was something similar to the current one but we hard a very hard time comprehending the current expt . Even Dr.D.B .S was not present in the lab for our rescue . We watched in despair Dr.Singh enjoying his usual viva-screwing , browsed through the page long program code again and again and ended up writing the "so called " report of the expt which we never did . Its high time the System of Education changed . The authorities should try to make the lab sessions "learning oriented " rather than being a machinelike execution of comands /instructions given in the manual .

Mathematical Jugglery

2:55pm

There was a loud bang on my door. Breaking away my beloved afternoon nap , i realised it was time for OPRE lecture . Within minutes , i got refreshed and started running towards the lecture theatre (LT) along with Srihari . The instructor of the course was a man of sincerity and hardwork, Dr.P.M.P. Moopanar (hereafter will be known as Dr.P.M ).When we reached the LT , Dr. P.M was already on the dias ,adjusting the overhead projector which will be engaging us for the next 45 minutes . We sat in the third to front row ( the second and first being empty ) , to avoid special attention from Dr.P.M,whose usual targets are back bench boys . Well not precisely back bench guys but he selects his victims randomly . Two things qualifies a person to become his victim , one being staring at his face and the other being staring at the screen for long time pretending to think on some mathematical concept deeply . The immediate response will be " Yes ***** , can u explain this concept .....tell me what do i mean by random variable ". Varied victims have their own varied answers . Once he gets convinced by your answer , he will move on to the next concept . Queuing theory was the topic of the day . I was just blinking over all the alphabets ( which in Dr. P.M terms are parameters of queuing system ) displayed on the screen . He started off with the assumption of three axioms , slowed moved over to calculation of some probabilty , then proved some resuts, which he calls " elementary " . First we were asked to" assume " certain things , then calculate some crapy probability using "predefined" formulae and finally what we "prove "are corallaries with the help of our assumptions . His face was shinning like a bright star with pride as he proved the corallary using his assumptions and calculations . The unfortunate thing was no one in the LT was able to understand what happened and why it happened . Everyone was busy filling up their notes with what they gazed at in the projector screen . " MATHS " has always been an enigma to me . I never understand what i do and why i do but still i continue doing my assumptions , calculations and proofs. Something struck me suddenly when i was giving this thought ,"MATHEMATICAL JUGGLERY ", the words of Dr. V.K.D. Well Dr.V.K.D is one another interesting personality on whom i shall speak later .

Long Live the "MATHAMATECIANS " !!!

First Blog

First part of every work should have a dedication the "To my beloved.... and For my deceased.... " kinda stuff .Well i would like to dedicate this blog to "Dhuja", the one whom i admire most (Pray this blog comes out decently )

Hi ppl

This is raghu, doing my third year of "so called " engineering in BITS goa campus . I am really late for blogging . Thought could try my hand in blogging after reading so many of my friend's blogs . Well i look really nasty when i am asked to tell about myself .Hope you will get to know me through my blogs. i guess thats decent enough for the first blog .
